The Conservation Awards celebrate excellence in conservation, restoration and preservation management. They focus attention on the skills of those training and working in these fields and on outstanding achievements in caring for the cultural heritage in the UK. By raising the profile of conservation and related work, they attract significant publicity, especially for the short-listed applicants.
The 2005 Awards
This year, in celebration of the tenth anniversary round of the Awards, a new Award for Collections Care has been introduced alongside the main Award for Conservation. This new Award reflects the increasing importance of developing long-term sustainable solutions for the preservation of collections.
Five awards are offered in 2005:
The Award for Conservation, worth £15,000

The Award for Care of Collections, worth
£10,000

The Student Conservator of the Year Award,
worth £10,000,
to be divided between the
student and the training institution

The Digital Preservation Award, worth £5000

The Anna Plowden Trust Award for Research
and Innovation, worth £2000
The winners will be announced at the British Museum on 22 November.
