The Wall Paintings Section has flourished since 1984 when it was principally focused on the conservation of wall paintings from the medieval age. However, in recent years, the scope of work has expanded to later periods and now encompasses wall paintings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, on canvas, wood and metal as well as plaster. The paintings can vary from small individual works to large schemes.
