UKIC Stone Section

The Stone Section was formed as a specialist group within UKIC over twelve years ago. Its intention is to represent professional conservators working in the stone discipline and it welcomes anyone with a serious interest in the preservation of stone buildings, sculpture and archaeological stone artefacts.

The aims of the section are

• to promote communication between the various groups involved and to encourage dialogue between conservators, architects, surveyors, scientists, etc.
  
  
• to set and maintain standards for stone preservation
  
  
• to be a representative voice in the stone industry, in training and in lobbying government.
  

The section holds regular meetings and publishes articles of interest in Conservation News to educate, update and inform members in the development of stone conservation.
