UKIC Stone and Wall Paintings Section

[email protected]

Introduction

The Stone and Wall Paintings Section represents about 200 hundred stone and wall painting conservators. The Section was formed as a specialist group within UKIC in 1998. Previously the sections operated separately from the early 1980's. Regular meetings events and conferences are held for its members. We welcome Conservator Restorers of any discipline to join us.

The aims of the section are:

  • To promote communication between the various groups involved and to encourage dialogue between conservators, architects, art historians, archaeologists, surveyors, scientists and others with a specialist interest in either stone or wall paintings.

  • Be a forum for the exchange of information on techniques in practice and under development and scientific research through regular meetings and publications including Conservation News.

  • To set and maintain standards of stone and wall painting conservation.

  • To be a representative voice in the stone and wall painting conservation, in training and in lobbying government.

The section regularly holds meetings and publishes articles of interest in Conservation News to educate, update and inform members in the development of stone and wall painting conservation. To read minutes of recent and archived meetings, choose from the following menu:
