: UNITED KINGDOM INSTITUTE FOR CONSERVATION (UKIC)
The United Kingdom Institute for Conservation is the professional
body for those who care for the country’s cultural heritage
collections. Its members are conservators and restorers working
in public
institutions, and those working in the private sector.
The Institute aims to foster excellence in the provision of
conservation
services, to raise awareness of the importance of conservation
skills, and to provide information and advice to those requiring
conservation services. Its purpose is to benefit the public
and the
quality of care of the nation's heritage. The Institute has
an
increasingly important role in lobbying government and other
heritage
organisations on issues related to conservation. It is the
organisation
that is consulted for conservation advice.
