UKIC STONE AND WALL PAINTING SECTTION
EDITOR’S REPORT – 18th September 2003
- We
continue to receive sufficient and worthy articles for publication – some
of a wide (international?) appeal e.g. Arte Mundit and forthcoming Wells
article. The editing procedure still has a number of areas of concern, but
these mainly appear to arise from complications using electronic format
for sending information. This has resulted in images not being used due to
lack of quality (Eddy de Witte’s article) and announcements lost (Norwich
Cathedral visit – see below)
- C.N - September issue: one of the
alternate months where we do not publish Section News. G.V and web site
contained announcements of Peterborough visit and Secular Wall Paintings
Conference. Norwich visit only appeared on the web site. The exact reasons
for the Norwich visit not appearing in the G.V are unclear. It has
appeared on the web site. Louise Henderson has offered to send an e-mail
announcement to all members. A flyer has been suggested for S&WP members.
- C.N – November issue: this will
contain a research article on Roman cement and a brief account of the
ICCROM stone course held in Venice. There is also the possibility of a
review of the May visit to Oxford churches which we are pursuing. G.V and
the web site will contain an updated announcement of the Secular Wall
Paintings Conference. The announcement for the “Doom” symposium may be
delayed –yet again.
- C.N – January issue: another
alternate month where we do not publish Section News. G.V and web site will
include notices about Secular Wall Paintings Conference and possibly
“Doom” symposium.
- C.N – March issue: an important
article on the re-treatment of figures from Wells Cathedral is planned for
this issue. Other possibilities include a review of the Peterborough and
Norwich trips and the Secular Wall Paintings Conference (?).
