EGG TEMPERA RETOUCHING CONFERENCE

UKIC Paintings Section is pleased to announce a conference on the subject of egg tempera retouching to be held jointly with BAPCR at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London .

The conference will cover the history of tempera retouching, the science behind it, various retouching techniques that have been developed and case studies. The morning will be devoted to lectures and in the afternoon all delegates will have the opportunity to take part in a basic workshop run by specialists in the field and to visit the trade fair.

This is the first of a series of retouching conferences to be held over the coming years. Other topics planned for later meetings include �Retouching with Resins' and �Retouching Difficult Surfaces'.

Afternoon Workshops:
All delegates will have the opportunity to take part in a one-hour introductory workshop where they can experience applying egg tempera, building up layers and burnishing.

Tutors:
Pippa Balch (Courtauld Institute), Mary Kempski and Dr Renate Woudhuysen-Keller (Hamilton Kerr Institute).

The conference fee includes the programme, materials for the workshop (brushes and test boards for delegates to take home) and tea and coffee. Lunch is not included.
