Advanced Technology
We are not only a world leader in digital map data but also an expert in adding value to that data with an ever expanding product range. For example, we have invested in state of the art measurement technology to ensure our data meets the accuracy and precision demanded by the automotive industry for the development of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Already used in a number of map-enhanced ADAS applications, the NAVTEQ Electronic Horizon is patented technology which enables systems to integrate attributes on the road ahead beyond where vehicle sensors can "see". In addition, the company's MPE reference solution accelerates the development of ADAS applications embedded directly in the vehicle's CAN bus. It's powered by the NAVTEQ MPE™ Map (a subset of the NAVTEQ Map which includes ADAS geometry and precise ADAS attributes) and is small enough to be implemented on a credit card-sized circuit board or distributed in the electronics architecture of the vehicle. Unlike traditional ADAS solutions, the application is always on and does not rely on a stored navigation route.
Tools, Support and Innovative Thinking
Designed specifically for its automotive customers, we offer a range of educational and promotional programs focused on the business of selling navigation and increasing navigation revenue. Fulfillment and after-sales support is also available for hard media and server based distribution of both initial and subsequent update map data. The technology is already in place to create customised, branded web stores for map update sales which offer an economy of scale and accelerate time to market.
