Fleet & Logistics
Initially created to meet the exacting standards of the automotive industry, NAVTEQ data enables the precise route calculation and navigation required for effective fleet management. Complex street level road geometry plus fine detail such as addresses, exits and road attributes, support the accuracy critical to haulage and delivery fleet optimisation. For international operations, our single global specification means seamless cross border planning and routing.
Specialist Products NAVTEQ continues to innovate and add new products, services and technologies. The fleet and logistics portfolio includes:
- NAVTEQ Transport - the first product on the market designed specially for the commercial trucking industry and featuring attributes such as physical and legal restrictions; and warning signs highlighting steep hills, sharp bends and lateral winds
- A pan-European data set comprising over 17,000 filling stations in over 35 countries with information on, for example, accessibility by lorries; availability of HGV pumps and power supply; type of fuels sold; and payment options.
- Integrated navigation – connecting in-vehicle navigation with back office IT systems to enable two-way communications. Designed to increase productivity, reduce transport and communication costs and minimise the risk of error or accidents.
The NAVTEQ digital map was also the first to be available not only in traditional GIS data formats but also in Relational Database Format (RDF) for direct integration into Oracle 10G/11G, IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQLServer. This makes it directly accessible through spatial extensions of Oracle, IBM and Microsoft databases and dramatically reduces data integration time.
